Week One!

Happy One Week Anniversary to The Rockstars! On this big day, they are spending the day eating and sleeping, and eating some more. What good puppies!

Puppies are weighed twice a day and above is a week one weight chart of their progress.; a healthy puppy should double their weight in the first week. Their weights are tracked twice a day, and this chart includes their nighttime weights. Everyone is lookin' good and putting out the ounce(s).

The Rockstars grooming has begun, they are having their nails done with baby nail clippers. Trimming them early ensures they will not scratch up Csilla's belly or each others eyes, in addition, daily handling gets them used to having their feet examined and makes for a well and properly socialized puppy. Once the pups are old enough we introduce the "dremmel" and pups and owners get lessons on dremmeling before they go home. Then their owners will also follow up on appropriate weekly nail care.

The Vizsla really is a wash and wear breed and the only thing owners really have to focus on as far as maintenance is "nails". Note: If you can hear a dog's nails on the floor - they are too long!

Neurological Stimulation

Day Three: The Rockstars litter began their Early Neurological Stimulation exercises which is part of the Bio Sensor program. This program is designed to give the dog a superior advantage in life by simulating the neurological system early on. Click the link above to view the exercises and additional information. These exercises will be repeated on each pup, once a day, through Day 15.

The pups are weighed twice a day to ensure they are all growing (and they are). Above is a photo of "Iggy" during his weigh-in.

Rockstars first road trip . . .

Day Two: The Rockstars went on their first "road trip" to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital to meet Dr. Beckie Williams for their dew claw and tail docking procedures. Aunt Shirley came with the gang as their "roadie" to rotate nursing pups throughout the drive.

Dr. Williams said everyone did great and all pups are healthy. She also complimented Csilla for being a very intense and concerned mother, she can tell the pups are well looked after.

With their new tail docking The Rockstars are starting to look more like Vizsla puppies (above).

All the vet techs in the office were so excited to meet all the famous Rockers and Rockettes! They said [Joan] "Jett" lived up to her namesake as a vocalist during her visit ; )

The Rockstar Litter makes their arrival!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of the “Rockstar Litter”!

Proud parents “Rocky” Am/Can GCh Captivatin Ain’t He A Knock-Ow’t and “Csilla” Ch Tamaron Okos Piros Csillag welcomed nine beautiful and healthy pups (5 boys, 4 girls) on October 19, 2010, in birth order they are:

Female / Neon Yellow - "Blondie" 11.7 oz
Female / Pink - "P!nk" 11.7 oz

Female / Lime - "Joan Jett" 12.0 oz
Male / Red - "Mick Jagger" 12.1 oz
Male / Turquoise - "Elton John" 10.3 oz

Everyone is doing great and Csilla is an intense and wonderful mother. The puppies put on weight their first day and are shiny, plump and active. I could not be happier! Great job Rocky and Csilla! You done good!

X-Ray confirms it . . . we're expecting . . .

Dr. Williams at Yorba Regional said we can expect between 9-12 puppies.

Csilla is doing great, she is in perfect health, has a fantastic appetite and is getting plenty of sleep and as much (or as little) exercise as she would like.

Day 50

Another photo of Csilla's ever growing belly ... an x-ray will be performed next week to determine the number of pups. If you are following Moonlight Vizslas on Facebook, you can make your "best guess" along with everyone else ; )

She is definitely is sleeping more but has a great (big) appetite and loves either having a nap completely stretched out, or dozing off on a soft & comfy spot (bed, couch, fuzzy dog bed, etc.)

Ultrasound confirmation aside, you can "see" there are definitely puppies on the way!

She Is!

The "Rockstars" will definitely be making their appearance next month - an ultrasound confirmed that baby Rocker/Rockettes are on the way! Csilla's anticipated due date is October 22nd.

Breeding Annoucement : The Rockstars

Moonlight Vizslas is happy to announce that “Rocky” Am/Can GCh Captivatin Ain’t He A Knock-Ow’t was recently bred to “Csilla” Ch Tamaron’s Okos Piros Csillag.

Csilla enjoyed several weeks in Maryland getting to know her betrothed. Huge thank you to Rocky’s owner, Rachel Kelly at Willo Runn Vizslas, for her care of Csilla during her visit to the east coast; and special thanks to Deb Stern for her “airport run” to help transport Csilla to her boyfriend. You ladies Rock!

We are hopeful the Rockstar Litter makes their debut the third week of October - stay tuned!

Update : It's Time!

Csilla came into season last week!!! She has been flown to the east coast to rendezvous with her betrothed in Maryland.

Very special thank you to the Pony Express AKA Deb Stern for picking up Csilla from her red-eye flight, and helping get her to Rocky's owner, Rachel Kelly.

Early reports from Rachel are that Csilla is making herself at home on the couch and fitting right in with her temporary "family".

Updates to follow . . . I am looking forward to hearing how Rocky and Csilla are enjoying each others company!

Mother Nature falls short . . .

Mother Nature knows best ... she did not want to cooperate with our planned litter for April 2010; Miss Csilla's ultrasound this week was *negative* for a pregnancy.

Thus, the Rocky x Csilla litter has been postponed until late Fall 2010.
